General Questions

What is Peace Of Mind Therapy?

Peace Of Mind Therapy & Stress Reduction Services provides individual therapy, couples counseling, child therapy, family counseling, stress reduction support, in person therapy, and online therapy. Therapy helps clients explore personal concerns, reduce conflict, improve self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and build healthier coping strategies.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy may be helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, parenting concerns, life transitions, work pressure, school demands, or family responsibilities. Many clients also come to therapy during positive life changes, such as a new relationship, career advancement, parenthood, or moving into a new season of life.

What concerns do you help with?

We support clients with anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem, marriage and relationship concerns, divorce, anger, childhood trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual identity and orientation, addiction, parenting, co-parenting, employment stress, and self-harm concerns.

Do you offer in person and virtual therapy?

Yes. Peace Of Mind Therapy offers both in person sessions and telehealth therapy. In person appointments are available at our Oak Park and Berkley locations, and virtual therapy is available for clients located in Michigan.

Scheduling & Appointments

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can call 248-397-4705 or submit a request through the website. Please include your name, contact information, whether you prefer in person or virtual sessions, and your general availability. A member of the team will follow up to discuss your needs and schedule an intake session.

What are your hours?

We offer flexible scheduling options, including traditional daytime appointments, early morning sessions, evening availability, and weekend appointments when available. Scheduling depends on therapist availability.

How long are therapy appointments?

Initial intake sessions generally last 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up sessions are typically scheduled in 45-minute or 60-minute increments, depending on your needs, goals, and therapist recommendation.

What happens during the first counseling appointment?

Your first appointment usually includes paperwork review, discussion of office policies, payment information, scheduling needs, and a conversation about why you are seeking therapy. This session helps your therapist understand your history, concerns, goals, and next steps for treatment.

What can I expect during ongoing therapy sessions?

You can expect a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment. You and your therapist will work together to identify goals, develop a treatment plan, review progress, and build practical strategies that support your emotional, mental, and relational well-being.

How long will I need to attend therapy?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. The length of therapy depends on your goals, needs, availability, progress, and comfort level. Some clients attend therapy short-term for a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term support. Ending therapy is usually a collaborative decision between you and your therapist.

Insurance, Rates & Payment

Do you take insurance?

Yes. Peace Of Mind Therapy currently accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand copays, deductibles, limitations, and mental health benefits.

Do you accept private pay?

Yes. Private pay is accepted by cash, check, electronic payment, or credit/debit card. Payment is due at the time of service. Some clients may also be eligible for reimbursement through their insurance provider or may use HSA or FSA funds.

What are your therapy rates?

Rates as of January 1, 2026 are: individual therapy, $165 for approximately 60 minutes; shortened session, $135 for approximately 45 minutes; couples or family therapy, $190 for approximately 60 minutes; intake session, $215 for approximately 60 to 75 minutes.

Why do some clients choose private pay?

Some clients choose private pay because insurance often requires a diagnosis code and may influence session authorization or treatment requirements. Private pay can provide more flexibility and privacy, allowing you and your therapist to determine frequency, goals, and treatment direction based on your individual needs.

Confidentiality & Privacy

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of therapy. Your information will not be disclosed without written consent, except in specific circumstances such as possible harm to yourself or others, concerns involving children or elderly adults, or a criminal court subpoena.

Is online therapy private?

Online therapy is designed to be private and secure. We recommend joining virtual sessions from a quiet, private location where you feel comfortable speaking openly.
